Syria’s Assad: We overcame war and Saudi-backed terrorism
The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that despite irreparable damages inflicted by six-year war and Saudi-backed terrorism, Syrians did not lose their faith in the ultimate victory over terrorism and its foreign and domestic tools, adding that Syrians are a proud nation which do not abandon their identity, past and noble religion.
MWFpress — The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that despite irreparable damages inflicted by six-year war and Saudi-backed terrorism, Syrians did not lose their faith in the ultimate victory over terrorism and its foreign and domestic tools, adding that Syrians are a proud nation which do not abandon their identity, past and noble religion.
Delivering a speech to a pan-Arab forum in Damascus, President Assad pointed out that the enamines of this region sought to reverse all progresses achieved in Syria during the past decades by igniting a war which targeted the lofty Islamic and Arabic ethics.
Dr. Assad noted that the enemies of Islam tried to say that the Muslim and Arab nations have only two options; either they must turn into submissive and obedient tools of western capitals, or they must plunge into the abyss of racial and religious extremism.
President Assad who was speaking to the participants in the Arab Forum for Confronting Zionist-US Reactionary Alliance and Supporting the Resistance of the Palestinian people on Tuesday emphasized that addressing the current threats which target the Arab and Muslim nations, requires a diligent work to elucidate and re-define key and vital concepts which their misunderstanding caused many hardship and difficulties for the Arabs in the Middle-East region.
Mr. Assad stressed that pan-Arabism is a comprehensive cultural and humanitarian situation, adding that pan-Arab ideology is not based upon a certain race or religion but rather on a common history, geography and language.
President Assad expressed concern over the acrimonious role which certain Arab regime are playing by facilitating western and Zionist agendas, saying that these [Arab] regimes are just tools in the hand of enemies of the Arab nations.
His Excellency highlighted that enemies of pan-Arabism seek to defame the Syrian Arab Republic by saying that the government in Damascus is a backward political system, but in fact they want to make us lackeys for giant US-owned financial institutions and banks, thus we need to preserve our Islamic and Arabic identity and move toward a more prosperous and developed Syria.
