Media reports said that Israeli fighter jets flew over Southern Lebanon on Sunday as Qatar Airways airliners were also in flight in the same aerial zone, using them as a shield to evade the Syrian air defense system.
- IntelSky, an observer of the Middle East and Mediterranean airspace, reported that this action by the Israeli air force seriously endangered the lives of passengers on the Qatari planes by subjecting the aircrafts to the risk of a possible reaction of the Syrian Air Defense System.
Syria and Qatar have allowed each other to use their airspace for the flight of airliners.
The idea that Israel's air force would use other planes as a shield to evade the Syrian air defense system does not seem new since Israeli fighter jets hid behind a Russian aircraft in September 2018 to bomb targets in Syria, which cost the lives of 15 people aboard the Russian transport plane that was shot down by the Syrian air defense system.
The Russian Ministry of Defense immediately blamed Israel for the crash of its plane and the death of its military, leading to tensions in relations between Moscow and Tel Aviv.
On the other hand, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly complained to the UN and the Security Council about the violation of its airspace by Israeli planes, but received no response. Source: farsnews
